A simple definition
What primary care is — and why it matters.
Primary care is your home base for health — the practice you go to for annual physicals,
ongoing prescriptions, the lab work that catches a problem early, and the questions you'd
never think to ask the front desk at an urgent care.
A good primary care relationship is built over time. Your provider gets to know your history,
your medications, the rhythm of your year — and that context is what lets us catch things
sooner, treat them better, and refer to specialists only when you actually need one.
What we offer
Care across every season of life.
From the well-checks that keep you healthy to the management of conditions that need attention every month, Martinsville Primary Care is built to handle the breadth of adult and family medicine.
Annual physicals & preventive care
Yearly check-ups, age-appropriate screenings (cholesterol, blood pressure, diabetes, cancer screenings), and the lifestyle conversations that actually move the needle.
Diabetes, hypertension, cholesterol
Ongoing management of long-term conditions with regular follow-ups, lab work, and adjustments to keep you steady — not just prescriptions.
The stuff that pops up
Sinus infections, UTIs, skin issues, joint pain, sleep concerns. When something's bothering you between annual visits, you don't need a specialist — you need your doctor.
Annual exams & gynecologic care
Pap smears, pelvic exams, contraception counseling, menopause guidance, and referrals to OB/GYN when needed.
Hormone replacement therapy
Personalized HRT for women navigating perimenopause, menopause, and the symptoms that come with hormonal change. We start with a conversation about your goals and a workup, then build a plan that fits your life.
Prostate, heart, & preventive care
Age-appropriate screenings (prostate, colorectal, cardiovascular risk), testosterone questions, and the routine maintenance most guys put off too long.
Medicare wellness & geriatric care
Medicare annual wellness visits, fall-risk assessment, polypharmacy review, cognitive screening, and coordination of specialty care.
Anxiety, depression, ADHD
Screening, treatment, and ongoing medication management for common mental-health concerns. We refer to therapy and psychiatry when that's the right next step.
On-site lab work
Blood draws, in-office testing for many conditions, and same-day results when possible. Less driving, faster answers.
Adult immunizations
Flu, Tdap, shingles, and pneumonia vaccines. We track what you've had and remind you when something's due.

Frequently asked
Questions, answered.
Where is Martinsville Primary Care?
Downstairs at 1044 E. Church Street, in the same building as Martinsville Urgent Care. Use the back parking lot and follow the signs — we're at the lower-level entrance.
Is this the same practice as Martinsville Urgent Care?
Same family, same building, two practices. Urgent care upstairs handles walk-ins and same-day issues. Primary care downstairs is your medical home for ongoing care. Each has its own phone number, but visits across both can share records when you're a patient of both.
What ages do you see?
Currently ages 12 and up. The age range may expand depending on the doctors we hire — call to ask about your specific situation.
Do you offer telehealth?
Yes. Established patients can request virtual visits for appropriate concerns — medication check-ins, stable chronic-condition follow-ups, and many sick visits. Not all symptoms qualify for telehealth visits — some appointments still need to happen in person, and we'll let you know.
What if I need urgent care between visits?
Walk right upstairs. Our urgent care team has been Martinsville's go-to for nineteen-plus years for the things that can't wait — and your records are right here in the same building.
How do I refill a prescription?
Call your pharmacy first — they can send the refill request electronically. We respond to refill requests within one business day. For controlled substances, plan to come in for a follow-up.
Ready for a real medical home?
We'd love to meet you. Schedule your first visit and start the relationship.
